ONE&ONLY MOONLIGHT BASIN MONTANA, USA

Flanked by the mountains and meadows of Montana, One&Only is situated within the Moonlight Basin master planned community in Big Sky Montana. The resort offers both rooms and suites, as well as freestanding cabins, designed by renowned architecture firm Olson Kundig. The entire aesthetic of the rooms is rooted in the surrounding landscape, focusing on mountainous views outside the windows, scattered with earthy accents of blue and burgundies. Making the most of the breath-taking setting, the Big Sky Suite includes a wraparound terrace with an outdoor soaking tub and panoramic views.

THE EMORY LONDON, UK

The Emory is London's first all-suite hotel. Showcasing modern architecture led by Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of RSHP, this luxury destination features just 61 suites. The Emory brings a new standard of contemporary design and discreet luxury to London, delivering a feeling of intimacy and calm which is drawn particularly through its uniquely designed suites. Set over 9 floors, the distinctive architectural feel of the building is anchored by a central staircase in a shade of bright pink dubbed ‘Richard Rogers Pink’, complimented by floor-to-ceiling glass windows throughout. Atop sits a spectacular 300sqm wraparound glass penthouse designed by Rigby & Rigby, with each two floors showcasing the creative aesthetic of a different world class design studio including Champalimaud Design, Andre Fu, Pierre-Yves Rochon, and Patricia Urquiola.

CORINTHIA ROME, ITALY

Set within the former Bank of Italy, on Piazza del Parlamento, Corinthia Rome's six signature suites complete GA Design’s restoration and reimagination of the heritage property. Each of the suites hold a distinctive identity in dialogue with the building’s architectural features and history. The Campo Marzio Suites are designed as two storey townhouses, with a living area bathed in light filtered through stained-glass windows that frame views of the Parliament, the city centre streets or the internal garden lounge. The Chigi Suite is guided by a spiral staircase leading to a 90-square-metre private panoramic terrace, furnished with a dining area and lounge zones, with a view sweeping over the Roman rooftops to parliament.

ZANNIER ÎLE DE BENDOR, PROVENCE, FRANCE

A collaboration between Société Paul Ricard and Zannier Hotels, the Zannier Île de Bendor project honours the enduring vision of Marseille-born pastis pioneer Paul Ricard. Set on a private island off the coast of Bandol in Provence, the property’s five-year restoration has been led by Hardel Le Bihan Architects, with interiors by Zannier Design Studio. The resort has multiple destinations including, Delos, evoking 1960s Riviera glamour; Soukana, built around wellbeing; and Madrague, five converted fishermen's houses with private gardens near the harbour. Natural materials and Provençal charm run throughout the guestrooms – understated, sun-warmed, unmistakably Mediterranean.

MAISON HELER, METZ, FRANCE

At Maison Heler, Philippe Starck has built an entire hotel around a fictional character of his own invention. Inside, the 104 rooms, spread across floors two to eight, are stripped back to what Starck calls "an almost Spartan spirit, stripped of any superficiality, where each material asserts its own colour: the white of cotton, the grey of concrete on the ceiling and walls." Throughout he draws together expansive marble panels and sliding mirrors, while plush carpets and natural leather armchairs soften hard edges – all of which seem to be hallmarks of a Starck design story. Building upon the textural base, scattered through the rooms and corridors are the story's props – ancient coins, quotations, a secret alphabet to decipher, archival photographs from the National Archives and the CNRS of inventions that never left the mind of Starck’s fictional character.

AMANGIRI, UTAH, USA

Conceived collaboratively by architects Rick Joy, Marwan Al-Sayed and Wendell Burnett, Amangiri is a reflection of the surrounding pristine Utah desert landscape it inhabits. In true Aman style, the resort carries a bold yet architecturally sensitive design which honours the magic and mystery of the region’s monumental rock formations and its ancient Navajo heritage. The structures were created in situ, casting cement with specific methods to appear as frozen sand rising up from the desert floor. For the resort’s 44 suites, the narrative is as much about the exterior as the interior, with the journey via an external walled lane, designed as an abstraction of a slot canyon complete with the sound of trickling water. Guests enter through rock archways where a series of private courtyards unfold to reveal a raised stone island in the centre of each suite housing the main sleeping area, lounge and bathroom. Each suite has an outdoor lounge and fireplace with expansive desert views, while some additionally feature a private pool or roof terrace.
